Description

Salvia lyrata ‘Purple Knockout’ is a perennial that forms compact basal rosettes of shiny burgundy leaves, which deepen to purple in summer and turn red in the fall. In spring and early summer, it produces spikes of pale lilac-blue flowers that rise above the foliage, reaching up to 18 inches in height. This plant thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts to a variety of soil types, including average, medium-wet to wet soils. Once established, it is drought and humidity tolerant. ‘Purple Knockout’ is known for its ability to self-sow, allowing it to form a dense groundcover over time.
