Description
The ‘Papa Meilland’ rose, a cultivar of the hybrid tea rose, was bred by Alain Meilland in France in 1963. Renowned for its dark velvety crimson flowers, which open from pointed, almost black buds, this rose boasts large, high-centered blooms with 35 petals. These blossoms are mostly borne singly on strong stems and are known for their rich, enduring scent. The flowering season extends over the summer to early autumn, with glossy, bright green foliage complementing the blooms. This cultivar is a result of crossbreeding ‘Chrysler Imperial’ and ‘Charles Mallerin’, both of which are highly scented, velvety, rich-red roses.
