Description

Meconopsis ‘Blue Ice’ is a cultivar within the Fertile Blue Group, closely related to ‘Lingholm’. This short-lived perennial forms a basal rosette of hairy leaves and produces striking blue, poppy-like flowers on stems that can reach up to 3 feet (1 meter) in height. The blooms typically appear in late spring to early summer, creating an eye-catching display in shaded garden spaces.

To thrive, ‘Blue Ice’ requires partial shade and moist, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. It prefers neutral to slightly acidic conditions and benefits from protection against cold, dry winds.

Hardy in USDA Zones 5 through 8, this cultivar is well-suited for cottage gardens, woodland settings, and shaded borders. Due to its relatively short lifespan, regular propagation by seed or division after flowering is recommended to maintain its presence in the garden.
