Description

Chelone lyonii ‘Hot Lips’, commonly known as pink turtlehead, is an upright, clump-forming perennial prized for its vibrant rosy pink flowers and attractive foliage. Blooming from late summer into fall, the distinctive, hooded blossoms resemble a turtle’s head and are borne on sturdy, red-tinged stems. Emerging with a bronze hue, the foliage matures to a deep, glossy green, providing a striking contrast to the vivid blooms. Mature plants typically reach a height of 2 to 3 feet (60 to 90 cm) and spread about 1.5 to 2.5 feet (45 to 75 cm). ‘Hot Lips’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, rich, humusy soils, making it ideal for rain gardens, pond edges, or woodland settings. Hardy in USDA zones 3 through 8, this variety attracts butterflies and hummingbirds while demonstrating resistance to deer and tolerance for wet soils.

Sold well-rooted in a tall 9cm pot.
